For six years, our Kindergarten Reading Program visited the Pines Charter FSU Elementary weekly from October through April to mentor young readers. During the COVID pandemic, the program switched to a virtual one — a library of reading videos.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING VIDEO SUBMISSIONS.
Past Video Guidelines:
- At the beginning of the videos, have an intro and tell the kids to turn on the subtitles so they can read along with you.
- You need to submit the media release form in the same email you submit the video in, so we can post your video.
- If your video is over five minutes long, you must submit a typed transcript.
- At the end of the videos, have a little “outro” for it to end smoothly.
- Film in a well lit area, and put the book up CLOSE to the camera, making sure that the entire page and words are visible. Give the kids time to take in the illustrations and writing and put the book closer to the camera if needed.
- Identify the title, author, and illustrator. Clearly enunciate your words and read at a slow, engaging pace.
- Refer to the pictures!
- Watch examples on our YouTube channel (link posted above).
- If your video is under five minutes, please provide a transcript!
- Send your media release form, transcript if needed, and video to nehskrp@gmail.com. CC pinescharternehs@gmail.com.
- When you have completed your video, attach it as a link from google drive and make sure to give edit access for everything! This includes the media release form.
- Two hours for each video submitted, and four hours if the video is also editing according to specifications listed below.
- If another student asks me about a book that has been already signed for yet not submitted, I will remove your name and give it to them if it has been over a month. Please complete your video in a timely manner.
Editing Requirements:
- You may edit your own video or send an email to nehsKRP@gmail.com (and CC pinescharternehs@gmail) asking for a video.
- If the video is over five minutes you will need to write up a transcript- we will explicitly tell you.
- Two hours for each video edited.
